ダポ先生の連休

2018.05.19

ナイジェリア出身のダポ先生が六甲山へ。

さて、どんな休日でしたでしょうか?

Hi  everyone!

I’m back here again. My name is Dapo, from Nigeria. This time, I want to tell you about how I spent my Golden week holidays.

I went on a road trip to Rokko mountain with my wife, her cousin, and her cousin’s husband, Kenji san. We went by car. Kenji drove the car. The road up the mountain is curvy and very steep at some points. There are many sharp bends and curves up the road to the top of the mountain. That was a little scary for me, my wife, and her cousin, but Kenji is a good driver and he’s very familiar with the road. So he was not afraid at all! On two occasions, a group tour luxury bus drove head-on to our car, the two ladies in the car were very scared! But Kenji slowed the car down and stopped for the bus to pass on both occasions. The bus drivers were apologetic by taking a bow to Kenji san.

Though the road is curvy, the trip was very interesting! I could see the aerial view of Nishinomiya city and Kobe city on the way up to the top. It was a beautiful and breathtaking view! We visited the Rokkosan Pasture (Rokko farm). There I could see many live animals for the first time in Japan. I saw horses, cows, goats and sheep, wild pigs, very cute rabbits and ducks. It was a beautiful day, though it was a little cold on the top of the mountain. Many people and families came to see the animals too, but it was not crowded. The little kids were very excited to play with the sheep because the sheep is very gentle and friendly, and it has soft fur all over its body. All the kids wanted to touch the fur and feel its softness. I did too!

We also visited “Hana no juutan” – A carpet of flowers, around the mountain area. We took pictures by the Shibazakura (the Moss-phlox flower). It was very beautiful scenery, like a pink carpet spread all over the hill!

After that, we went for lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant around the mountain country side. It is a special restaurant for “Tamago gakke gohan”(rice bowl mixed with raw eggs, soy sauce and seaweed). It was my first time to eat it and it was very delicious. I had two rounds of servings, hahahaha!

After lunch we headed back home and later on that day, my wife and I invited Kenji san and his wife to our house for dinner, to appreciate Kenji san’s hardwork for driving, and for letting us use their car. We had a lot of fun together! I am looking forward to the time we would have another chance to go out together again!

Thank you.
